Javier Bardem Storms Off Stage After He Feels Ambushed At An Event

Javier Bardem storms off stage after he feels ambushed at an event

The actor believed it was going to be an intimate celebration of his life and work

He walked out after listening to some comments criticizing his career

Spanish actor Javier Bardem abruptly ended an event at the Spanish Film Academy on Thursday, which he believed was going to be a tribute to filmmaker Bigas Luna.

Bardem said he felt "ambushed" by the event, which included comments critical of his career.

The event was organized by the Spanish Film Academy to celebrate Bardem's career. The actor was expecting a more intimate gathering, and was surprised by the critical tone of the event, which was streamed live on YouTube.

The last straw for Bardem was a sequence of sarcastic comments by filmmaker David Trueba about his role in "Dune" and a Spanish TV series called "Inés del alma mia," which Bardem produced.

Bardem did not hesitate to interrupt Trueba. "You said you were not going to talk about 'Dune' or 'Inés del alma mia,' but you have talked about both, and you've done it with a lot of contempt," the actor said.

"I'm not going to allow you to disrespect my work," he added.

Bardem then left the stage, leaving the audience in shock. The actor later apologized for his behavior, but said he felt he had been "disrespected."

Trueba, meanwhile, said he was "surprised" by Bardem's reaction. He said he had no intention of disrespecting the actor, and was simply trying to make a few jokes.

The event was widely criticized on social media, with many people saying that Trueba had been disrespectful to Bardem.
