Created by the Tokyo-based developers at Team Asobi, the character first arrived in 2013's The Playroom, a free tech demo for the PlayStation 4. In 2018, Astro Bot Rescue Mission was released as a full-fledged game for the PlayStation VR headset. Now, Astro Bot is making the leap to the PS5 with Astro's Playroom, an exclusive title that will showcase the console's new features.

Astro's Playroom will be released exclusively for the PS5 on September 6, 2024. Pre-orders will open for the title beginning on June 7, 2024, alongside the launch of the PS5 itself.
